Gah! All my library hold requests have suddenly arrived at once! What to read first, the Amazon-recommended depresso grief memoir The Year of Magical Thinking or Son of a Witch, the “sequel” to Wicked? I’d be paralyzed with indecision if my reserved copy of The History of Love hadn’t arrived last week.

And now Netflix is sending me adver-emails about United 93, along with the dis-jarringly cheery reminder to “Enjoy the movie!”

Yes! OMG! I hope I get a coupon for free popcorn!

Oooh, new Douglas Coupland book out on May 16th. Okay, you say the whole Coupland fad is SO ’92, and you’re probably right. But I still loved Microserfs, and I remain a fond fan.

Other literary thoughts: Am I the only one with the sneaking suspicion that Jonathan Safran Foer and Nicole Krauss are actually the same person? Do they write in a similar style because they’re married, or is it the other way around?

Also, I know I told Amazon, truthfully, that I liked A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. But now every time I browse their site, they feel the need to alert me to someone else’s elegiac memoir of how someone close to them HORRIBLY, yet life-alteringly for the author, DIED. It’s getting to be a bit of a downer.

They’re renovating the restrooms on the first eight floors of my office building, so anyone who works on the affected floors has to take an elevator trip just to pee. The amusing thing is that now most people (women AND men) take the trip in groups! Not me, though. I’m a renegade. I pee SOLO.

Have managed to run only 4 miles in the past umpteen days, so now I am clinically obese. My passport is definitely late at this point, even though the website says it’s on track, and I’ve been informed by government employees that there is absolutely nothing I can do. This makes my martial arts master MAD. That whole suicide idea is looking better and better.
