A Conversation (Waiting for the Bus)

What I Can Only Describe as a Fourteen Year Old Boy, Fifteen at Most: Are you waiting for the 9:05 bus?

Me: Yes. It’s probably late.

Fourteen Year Old Boy: It always is. At least I won’t have to kill myself because my stop at Starbucks cost me the ride home.

Me: Not tonight.

Fourteen Year Old Boy: Tomorrow, I was counting on it.

Me: Anything’s possible!

Fourteen Year Old Boy: This is New York.

THE BUS COMES.

Fourteen Year Old Boy: Yes! The FSM has blessed us!

Me: The Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Fourteen Year Old Boy: Yes! Yes! A Pastafarian! Ra-men!

Me: Ra-men!

WE BOARD THE BUS.
