Shut up, Vogue

If “half of overweight people and one-third of obese people are ‘metabolically healthy’” and “one out of four slim people — those who fall into the “healthy” weight range — actually have at least two cardiovascular risk factors typically associated with obesity” (sez the New York Times), then can’t we all agree that we’ve been barking up the wrong tree all these years?

Personally, I am on the heavier side of a healthy BMI (a measure which keeps getting more and more meaningless as time goes by). The official charts say the low end of healthy for me would be 91 lbs. 91 lbs, man! This scarcely seems attainable or worth it. BUT. My Yahoo page really would like me to set a goal weight. And Weight Watchers keeps e-mailing me to tell me it’s Not! Too! Late!

So I guess if I lose 18 more lbs, my life will be perfect. Aside from needing breast implants, and the fact that lower weight people tend to die earlier than the overweight. Aces!
