And that’s history

Saw “Star Wars” again with some true geek friends. And as I said before the picture started, either it was a worthwhile film, or I just love you guys so much! Shared a “Seasonal Tour of Beers” with Brundle beforehand, which helped.

Funny story: Shortly after I was adopted, my parents saw the original “Star Wars” in a theater. After the movie, my father raised his hands and yelled to the skies “Give me back my youth!” – and no one did.

In retrospect, maybe I never really liked “Star Wars” anyway.

Had a headache most of the weekend. Realized on Sunday that it was all due to caffeine deficiency, and then all was well.

Did drills with Li yesterday, and am hella sore today.

Ow.

And so it begins

I fixed the faucet knobs on the kitchen sink so they are no longer backwards. This mind-bendingly complex project involved – get this – unscrewing the knobs, switching them, and then screwing them into the appropriate sockets. This was all done under cover of darkness, to spare my parents the sight of me using a phillips screwdriver.

I cannot tell you how long I have wanted to do this.

It was the best ABBA musical I’ve ever seen!

OK, it was lots of fun, especially since I didn’t have to pay for it (thanks to Morgan and Li). Now I wonder if you can just make up a random storyline and set it to any artist’s music. I hear they’ve already done it for Billy Joel, but I think I’ll hold out for the Metallica version.

Because we can

Woo! Watched a totally excellent mass-third-degree test in which at least 4 of my friends did kickass awsome stuff. Like tiny Maiko and Kathryn fighting two-on-one and breaking about a million boards each (five board back kick – blimey!), not to mention William’s 1-inch punch and Chris’s scissor kick. (Hey, it’s impressive that he even gets up that high.) Anyway, an illuminating and inspirational day.

Afterwards, I gave in and saw the final Star Wars movie with the martial arts crew, because my geek pride couldn’t let them see it before I did. No words beyond what’s already been said. Will see it again on Friday with my true geek friends. 😉

Moved back to the Bronx on Monday. Jettisoned a lot of mass for the re-entry. It took about 6 hours to get everything out of Manhattan, driven into the Bronx, and completely unpacked and put away. I think I made reasonably good time, and the Netflix movies were already there when I arrived. So far, so good.

I’m seeing the Abba musical “Mamma Mia!” with Li tonight, because the tickets are free, and because we can. At 2 hours and 15 minutes, it probably won’t kill me.

Thursdays…

Well, I’m about 75% packed for the move back to the Bronx, New York’s second most godforsaken borough. Subscribed to Netflix so I will have something to do there. Also so I can finally see “Alien Vs. Predator” without guilt.

I packed my sheep.

Finally saw “Kung Fu Hustle” with Marianne. Overall, a fun movie with several brilliant moments, which I won’t spoil here. I’m still befuddled as to why Stephen Chow is supposed to be “The Jim Carrey of Hing Kong Cinema.” He’s nothing like Jim Carrey.

Finished reading “Eleanor Rigby,” the new Douglas Coupland book. It got more interesting near the end.

Watched the “Smallville” marathon on Sunday, in a fit of lethargy. I never really watched “Smallville” in any great quantity before. Now that I have, I have come to the following conclusions:
1) Lex Luthor is cool.
2) Nobody else is.
3) Jor-El is a jerk.

My big, fat-

I was jogging on the treadmill at the gym when this “fun fitness fact” popped up on the TV screen: The main source of dietary fat for women aged 20-60 is salad dressing.

What ails these women??? Everyone knows your main source of fat should be cheese.

All right, I’ve finally found a physical therapist that takes my health insurance AND was recommended by my orthopedist guy! (Apparently, these two sets intersect at a single, lonely point.) The receptionist is either extremely nice, or extremely sarcastic. This might bode well.
